Barcelona 900
High Barrel Tile
The Spanish mission barrel profile that defined Florida architecture — 22 colors and blends, Class A fire rated, with a non-prorated, fully transferable limited lifetime warranty.
The Roof Florida
Was Built With
Barcelona 900 is the high barrel profile — deep, rolling curves that throw genuine shadow across a roof and read unmistakably as Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean Revival.
This is the roof on the old Coral Gables houses, the Boca Raton estates, the mission churches. It's the shape Florida architecture grew up around, and on the right house nothing else looks correct.
The barrel throws a shadow line that changes through the day — sharp at noon, long and warm by late afternoon. That movement is why a barrel roof looks alive in a way a flat profile never does.

Barcelona or Saxony?
This is the decision most tile buyers actually face, and it isn't about performance — both are concrete tile from the same manufacturer with the same warranty. It's about what your house is.

|---|---|---|
| Profile | High barrel — deep rolling curve | Slate — flat with squared edge |
| Architectural language | Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean Revival, Mission | Contemporary, coastal modern, transitional |
| Reads as | Traditional, warm, historic Florida | Clean, modern, restrained |
| Shadow | Strong and moving — high relief | Subtle, defined edge line |

| Suits homes with | Arches, stucco, wrought iron, courtyards | Clean rooflines, large glass, horizontal massing |

Both are Class A fire rated concrete tile with a non-prorated, fully transferable limited lifetime warranty. Performance is effectively identical — choose on architecture, not specification. See Saxony 900 Slate →
What You're Getting
Class A Fire Rated
The highest rating available. Concrete tile doesn't burn — which matters for insurance, and matters more if a neighbor's roof ever does.
Lifetime Warranty
Non-prorated and fully transferable, so coverage carries to the next owner rather than expiring at closing. A genuine resale asset.
Clay Look, Concrete Cost
The barrel profile of traditional clay at a lower price point, with better impact resistance and none of clay's brittleness.
22 Colors and Blends
From Citrus Clay through Spanish Blend to Sterling. Deep enough range to satisfy almost any Mediterranean HOA palette.
Natural Ventilation
The barrel shape creates more air space beneath the tile than a flat profile — meaningful heat reduction into your attic in August.
Decades of Service
Properly installed concrete tile routinely outlasts two or three shingle roofs. The tile usually outlives the membrane beneath it.

Color on a screen is not color on a roof — and barrel tile especially, because the curve creates shadow that flattens out in a photograph. Before you commit, we'll bring physical samples to your home and hold them against your stucco and trim in real Florida light.

The Tile Isn't
Your Waterproofing
Barrel tile is designed to let water pass beneath it and drain out. The membrane underneath does all the actual waterproofing.
This is why Florida barrel roofs so often need work while the tile still looks perfect — the tile outlives the underlayment, sometimes by decades. When that happens a lift and relay is usually right: we remove the tile carefully, install new underlayment and secondary water resistance, and reset your original tile.
The second thing: weight. Concrete barrel tile is substantially heavier than shingle. Converting from shingle means your structure needs verifying — and because we hold a general contractor license alongside our roofing license, we handle framing work directly rather than stopping your job to find someone else.
-->Barcelona 900 FAQs
How long does a Barcelona 900 tile roof last in Florida?
The tile itself routinely lasts 50 years or more and carries a non-prorated lifetime warranty. The underlayment beneath has a shorter service life — which is why many Florida barrel roofs need a lift and relay while the tile is still in excellent condition.
Barcelona or Saxony — which should I choose?
Architecture decides it, not performance. Barcelona's high barrel suits Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean Revival, and Mission homes — arches, stucco, wrought iron, courtyards. Saxony's flat slate profile suits contemporary and coastal modern homes with clean rooflines and horizontal massing. Both are Class A concrete tile from the same manufacturer with the same warranty.
What's the difference between concrete barrel and real clay?
Clay is fired terracotta — the original material, with color that runs all the way through and never fades. It's also more expensive and more brittle, so it chips more easily under foot traffic. Concrete barrel gives you the same profile at a lower cost with better impact resistance. If you want genuine clay, see our clay roof systems.
Is my house strong enough for barrel tile?
If your home already has tile, yes. Converting from shingle requires structural verification first — concrete tile is significantly heavier and older framing wasn't always designed for it. We assess this during the free inspection, and our general contractor license means we can handle any required structural work ourselves.
Can I get physical samples before deciding?
Yes, and with barrel tile it matters more than most. Photographs flatten the curve, so a tile that looks one color on screen reads quite differently once the shadow is real. We bring samples to your home so you can see them against your walls at the angle you actually view your roof from.
Will my HOA approve Barcelona 900?
In most Mediterranean-style communities, yes — barrel tile is often what the guidelines require. Twenty colors covers most approved palettes. We handle HOA submittals regularly, including color boards, product data sheets, and architectural review paperwork. Send us your community's guidelines and we'll tell you what's approvable before you settle on a color.
Can broken tiles be replaced individually?
Yes, without disturbing the surrounding roof — one of tile's real advantages. Keep a few spares from your original installation; colors are produced in batches and an exact match years later isn't always possible.
How much does a Barcelona 900 roof cost?
Cost depends on square footage, roof pitch and complexity, whether structural work is needed, and the underlayment specification. Rather than quote a range that may not apply to your house, we'll inspect it and give you line-item pricing in writing. Try our roof cost calculator for a rough starting figure.
